In 1646-1669 Count Per Brahe had a small castle with 15-20 rooms built for himself on a hill located in what is currently known as Ristiina area. Although the Brahelinna Castle became habitable in 1657, it was probably never fully completed. During the Great Northern War in 1700-1721 the castle became abandoned and much of its construction material was taken for other purposes. Propably in 1802 the castle was finally demolished and currently there are only the surrounding wall, cellar and some other parts that have been restored in recent years.
